Balblair x Dram & Smoke Pop-up
For Father’s Day, we teamed up with Scottish culinary creatives Dram & Smoke, to create the ultimate supper club experience. The pop-up was held over the weekend of 16th-18th June at 584 Kingsland Road, Dalston and gave guests the opportunity to be transported to our home on the idyllic coast of the Dornoch Firth while enjoying a mouth-watering feast. Each course was perfectly paired with a dram of Balblair and our Distillery Manager, John, was on hand to guide guests through the dinner.
Don’t worry if you didn’t make it along though, keep on reading to get the recipes to create your own Balblair themed dinner at home.
Ham & Langoustine with Pea Ravioli & Dulse Seaweed Shellfish Broth
An elegant starter course that screams of summer and celebrates the Rolls Royce of Scottish waters...the deliciously sweet Langoustine.
Smoked Highland Ribeye, Potato Rösti with Green Beans, Wasabi & Pickled Shallots & Brown Butter Béarnaise
A truly epic piece of meat that is a guaranteed summer barbeque showstopper. Let your guests carve at the table and get stuck into the sides family-style.
A robust piece of beef like this needs the full-bodied finish of Vintage 1999 2nd Release. The warmth and fruity spiciness of this whisky will complement the sweet cherry smoke of the meat. View the recipe here - Balblair x Dram & Smoke - Main Course.
Nitro 1990 Balblair Ice Cream, Toffee Granny Smith, Banana Raisin Bread & Salted Shortbread Crumb
Liquid Nitrogen makes this the smoothest ice cream you will ever taste...but if you don’t have any handy it works very well indeed with a traditional ice cream churning machine too!
Vintage 1990 says dessert all over, and the flavours of honey and raisin are directly complemented in the dish while the zing of the citrus character of the whisky will help cut through the creaminess of the ice cream and the butteriness of the shortbread.
