A small batch of Balblair Vintage 1991 briefly replaced our award-winning 1989. The American oak barrels used in the distillate’s maturation, lend a warm toffee, vanilla fragrance. Balblair 1991 is golden honey in appearance.
A full-bodied malt with aromas of oranges, grapefruit and lemon; hints of chocolate and leather can also be detected.
On the palate it is sweet, slightly spicy with traces of butterscotch and orange.
Smooth to start leading to a long-lasting, warming finish.
Our Vintages are intriguingly complex and satisfying. We capture the intense esters at the start of the spirit cut to give our Vintages the core characteristics of apricots, oranges, spices, floral notes and green apples. The heavier oils and lipids at the end of the cut are also captured, giving leathery, nutty and full-bodied characteristics.
